To kick the new year off the daily rates of our Digital Betacam cameras, the Sony DVW-970WSP &
Sony DVW-709WSP, have been reduced. Not only have the rates come down but now with every hire a
Chrosziel Matte-Box & Monitor is included. Sony’s Digital Betacam format is still the benchmark in SD recording.

The waiting is over, Red One is here! The Red One Digital Cinema Camera is not High Definition…
it's Ultra High Definition!
With the every growing need for higher resolution the Red One was announced in 2006 then released in August 2007. The camera & many accessories are priced far below most comparable products, & as a result it will give thousands of Film Makers around the world the opportunity to work in Ultra High Definition.
The Red One camera houses a 12 Megapixel Mysterium Super 35mm cine sized sensor which records 4K (up to 30 fps), 3K (up to 60 fps) & 2K (up to 120 fps). Media records directly to a 320GB Hard Drive or Compact Flash Cards.
Looking for 35mm shallow depth of field, over/under cranking, or just an image that holds 5 times the amount of information as HD? You got it!

ACS Awards SA/WA – Congratulations to Pete Hall & Maxx Corkindale for
their winning entries at this year’s awards. Both Cinematographers chose Picture Hire’s Sony
DVW-970WSP progressive Digital Betacam for their projects. Pete won Gold in the Commercials
Regional category for a Gerard McCabe TVC - 'A Promise'. Maxx picked up a Bronze in Fictional
Drama Shorts for 'The Only House On The Street'. And for the second year running won the
Cliff Ellis Memorial Award (active member showing most potential). We believe Maxx is the only
Cinematographer to achieve this.
Picture Hire continues to support emerging talent & therefore would also like to congratulate regulars Kirsty Stark, David Gregan & Tom Gaskell for their wining entries in Student Cinematographer. Kirsty won Gold for 'The Threat That Came From Beyond Tomorrow to Destroy Us All'. That's some title! David won Silver for 'Chambers'& Tom picked up Bronze & the MRC Encouragement Award (Promising Young Film Maker) for 'Gimmie Shelter'.

the choice of two Sony XDCAM HD422 PDW-700 Camcorder kits, one includes a 4.5mm HD Wide Angle Lens. As a companion to
either the HDCAM or XDCAM cameras are the 8" Panasonic HD/SD LCD Onboard Monitor (BT-LH80WS) & the 17" Panasonic HD/SD LCD
Monitor (BT-LH1700WE). Both monitors incorporate a waveform monitor for those who take their shooting seriously.
Also new to Picture Hire is a Steadicam Flyer LE & MTS Car Mount, both designed for small to medium size cameras.
